Oregon eliminated its practice-hours requirement for license renewal effective January 1, 2026. Currently, nurses must complete 2 hours of cultural competency CE and 1 hour on pain management per renewal cycle. New CE hour requirements (20 hours for RN/LPN, 75 hours for APRN) take effect January 1, 2028. Oregon has no grace period for renewal, and late fees are steep. Oregon has passed Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) legislation (SB 966) and compact implementation is underway.
